Corona Virus (COVID 19)
Corona Virus is a broad family of viruses which can affect both humans and animals. However, the latest strain of corona virus (COVID 19) has been declared as a pandemic. This primary case was reported in Wuhan in late 2019 and now its spread to more than 160 countries. This deadly virus spreads at a very fast rate and causes fatalities particularly in children and elderly individuals. This virus spreads through person to person close contact and from respiratory droplets. Scientists have suggested that the only way to keep you safe is to keep social distancing, washing hands frequently and avoid touching your nose and mouth.
Conjunctivitis & Corona
We will speak about Corona infection through eyes. Not necessarily every conjunctivitis is a corona sign but its better to visit govt. recognized hospital if you have cough, fever, breathing problems along with it. Prevention is always better way.
Role of Eyes in Spread of COVID 19
Here we want to add something to your existing information.
- Several reports suggest the virus can cause conjunctivitis and possibly be transmitted by aerosol contact with conjunctiva.
- Patients who present to ophthalmologists for conjunctivitis who also have fever and respiratory symptoms including cough and shortness of breath, and who have recently travelled internationally must show to a general physician first as these symptoms may be associated with COVID 19
- It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
- Conjunctivitis is also an initial sign of COVID 19 if it is contracted through eyes. So, other than covering your nose and mouth it is also very important to protect your eyes and strictly avoid touching or rubbing your eyes without proper hand washing. Prevention is the only strategy to fight against this pandemic, besides other preventive measures, take care of your eyes and spread this information to your loved ones
